Powdery mildew on Oak leaves (Quercus sp.). Oak Powdery mildew is caused by the fungus Microsphaera alphitoides. The fungus seems to overwinter as mycelium in infected shoots and dormant buds. In the late spring; infected shoots begin to grow; releasing spores which infect new parts of the plant.
