Lily of the valley. Wild lily of the valley, Convallaria majalis, grows beside a path in a forest clearing. Approaching along the path are two hikers. The single species in this genus is a hardy perennial. The plant flowers in the spring; each stem growing 5 to 8 waxy, white flowers which are strongly scented. The plant is widely cultivated but also grows wild in Europe, North America and northern Asia. Photographed on Vancouver Island, Canada.
