Each time zone is fifteen degrees of longitude apart. The zones are measured from Greenwich, England, which is at 0 degrees longitude. Each zone has a clock time one hour earlier than the zone immediately to its east. Some political and physical boundaries lead to irregularly-shaped zones. This map also shows country borders, capital cities (starred) and major cities.
