Great White shark research. Researcher preparing a dead shark for use as bait for Great White sharks (Carcharodon carcharias). When the Great White shark approaches close enough, they are tagged with a battery operated transmitter onto the dorsal fin using a dart at the end of a long pole. This enables the researchers to track the sharks movements and behaviour. The Great White is the largest of the predatory sharks, reaching a length of over 6 metres. They feed mainly on seals, turtles and fish. Attacks on humans are rare and more likely due to mistaken identity. Photographed in False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa.
