JASON Project. School children at the National Geographic Society's auditorium in Washington DC, USA, watch a live broadcast from the 1994 JASON Project expedition to Belize. The JASON Project uses live video to link groups of school children across the USA to scientists carrying out genuine research in the field. Interactive links allow the children to talk to members of the expedition, carry out observation tests and operate a remote- control rover vehicle used to explore Belize's coral reef. The 1994 Project included a study of insect-plant relationships in the rainforest, the mapping of underground caves, and an investigation into the mysterious death of areas of coral reef.
