Chinese medicine. A display of Chinese herbal medication at a pharmaceutical factory. The display is made up of shelves of medication. Crude herbs are seen in glass vessels on the lower two shelves. Preparations of herb extracts are seen in plastic bottles on the upper two shelves. Chinese herbal medicine uses plant and animal extracts to treat symptoms of disease or illness. Chinese medicine uses herbalism, acupuncture, acupressure and tai-chi. These techniques are thought, in Chinese medicine, restore the balance of universal forces in the body.
