Biodiesel contains alkyl esters, which are made from vegetable oils such as rapeseed (Brassica napus) or animal fats. The continual growth of new oil based plants, which absorb carbon dioxide from the air through photosynthesis, means that biodiesel contributes less to global warming than fossil fuels do.
