Olive press. This restored olive press dates to the beginning of the 20th century. It was used in the process of olive oil extraction, which separates the oil from the other fruit contents. The olive press was used after the olives were ground into a paste using large millstones. The machine works by applying pressure to the olive paste which separates the liquid oil and vegetation water from the solid fruit. Photographed at the Granada Science Park, in Granada, Spain.
