Mediterranean climbing cutworm (Spodoptera littoralis). This is the caterpillar of a moth found in Mediterranean Europe and Africa. In its larval stage, it is a destructive pest of subtropical and tropical crops. The caterpillar is commonly found in ornamental plants and produce imported into the UK. Because of its potential to cause damage to glasshouse crops in northern Europe, it is a quarantine pest in EU legislation.
