Ring-tailed lemur infant (Lemur catta). Native to the deciduous forests and open brush of Madagascar, ring-tailed lemurs feed on fruit, leaves, seeds and occasionally insects. They are mostly grey in colour, with a distinctive black- and-white ringed tail. At about 56 centimetres in length, the lemur's tails are slightly longer than their bodies. Breeding results in either one or two offspring, which are fully weaned after five months. They are prosimians, the most primitive extant primates. Photographed in Madagascar.
