The Bonobo eats mainly fruit, but has also been known to eat insects and small mammals. In the wild this species is only found south of the Congo River and north of the Kasai River (a tributary of the Congo River) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Central Africa. They are considered to be endangered due to the loss of the humid forests they inhabit. Photographed in Jacksonville Zoo, Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
