A tribal 'Wancho' in the village of Zedua The Wanchos inhabit the western part of Khonsa district, bordering Nagaland. Their society is divided into four classes - the Wanghams (chiefs), the Wangpana, the Wangaue and Wangaas. Head-hunting has long since ceased in the state and the Arunachalis are generally known to be a peace-loving people. The Wanchos of the southeastern Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, who saw action against the British in the mid 19th century), used to infiltrate and attack the ferocious Konyak tribes of north-eastern Nagaland until quite recently. The Konyak tribes of north-east Nagaland still occasionally head-hunt today.
