After visiting a market centre, a young Himba woman drives home her donkey along dusty white tracks. Her body gleams from a mixture of red ochre, butterfat and herbs. Her long hair is styled in the traditional Himba way and is crowned with a headdress made of lambskin, called erembe. Her garments are also made of leather. Most married women wear a large conch shell, ohumba, between their breasts.
