Scattered bands of Batwa pygmies hunt and fish in the Semliki Forest of Western Uganda, an extension of the vast Ituri rainforest of the Congo DRC. Rarely more than five feet tall, the Batwa catch fish by damming a stream and placing bamboo-stem drainpipes through the base of the wall. When the drainpipes are unblocked, tiny fish are swept through them and caught in woven baskets
