Sabella underwater tidal turbine. This is the Sabella DO3, the first French underwater tidal turbine. It is a prototype, built to a one-third scale which will produce 200 to 1000 kilowatts of power. It is designed to be used in rivers. It was built in the port of Benodet, in Brittany, France, and will be immersed in the mouth of the River Odet, which reaches the sea at Benodot. The building of the Sabella tidal turbine began in May 2007. The immersion took place in April 2008, and data was recorded for one year until April 2009.
