Annular solar eclipse. Montage image of the sun (white) during an annular solar eclipse, showing the varying position of the moon (black) as it passes in front of the sun and out again, from top left to bottom right. This image was obtained with an H-alpha filter, which reveals the chromosphere, a reddish layer of the Sun's atmosphere.
