Marie Curie (1867-1934, born Marya Sklodowska), Polish-French physicist and chemist, seated in a chair. Curie won two Nobel Prizes for her work. She was awarded a share of the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics for her work on radioactivity. She later won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work isolating the radioactive elements polonium and radium. Much of her work was done with her husband Pierre in their laboratory in Paris, and she continued this work after he died in 1906.
