Congo logging. Trunks of mature hardwood trees, felled in a tropical rainforest in the Congo Basin, waiting to be loaded for onwards transport. The mature hardwood trees felled here are on average 100 years old. The trunks have been stripped of their branches, cut into sections, and marked with the details of the logging group that felled them. The resulting logs will be turned into plywood, planks and other wood products at sawmills. The wood is mainly sold in the European market. Photographed at Kisangani port, Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.
