Congo logging raft. Villagers and temporary huts on a logging raft built to transport logs on the Congo River. The logs are the stripped trunks of mature hardwood trees felled in a tropical rainforest in the Congo Basin. They have been lashed together by wire cables, and a tugboat will tow them downriver in a trip lasting two to three weeks. Villagers travel on the raft with goods (such as charcoal) and livestock for trade at markets in bigger cities. This raft is being towed from the port at Mbandaka, in Equateur Province, Democratic Republic of Congo, to the capital city of Kinshasa.
