Humboldt squid (Dosidicus gigas) suckers, close up. This aggressive, predatory squid is also known as the jumbo squid and can swim in groups of more than 1200 individuals. Like most other squid, the Humboldt squid has eight arms and two longer tentacles. The underside of each arm and tentacle is covered with barbed suckers that can latch onto prey.
