William Joseph Hussey (1862-1926), US astronomer. Hussey was born in Ohio and studied engineering at the University of Michigan. In the 1890s he worked as an astronomy professor in California, close to the famous Lick Observatory, where he worked as a volunteer. His major work was on double stars, and he made numerous observations between 1898 and 1899. From 1905, Hussey was Professor of Astronomy at the University of Michigan, and Director of the Detroit Observatory. He participated in eclipse expeditions and made major contributions in astronomy administration and teaching. Photograph published in 1926 in the US magazine Popular Astronomy.
