This DNA is used to build a new synthetic chromosome. This chromosome is inserted into bacterial cells which self-replicate themselves and are controlled by the synthetic DNA. These synthetic bacterial cells could be used to develope new fuels, drugs and might even play a role in fighting pollution of the environment.
