Magnificent frigatebird courtship. View of a magn- ificent frigatebird male (Fregata magnificens, left) displaying his red throat pouch to a female (right). These large seabirds live in equatorial waters from the Galapagos Islands to the west African coast. They are the largest of the frigatebirds, reaching a length of over 110 centimetres. Their feeding methods are notorious: they often chase smaller seabirds and force them to regurgitate a recent meal, or to drop a new catch. They also catch their own fish from the water's surface. Also seen is a yellow-flowering moyuyu bush. Photographed on Tower Island, part of the Galapagos group belonging to Ecuador.
