Engraved plate depicting discord and harmony. In the foreground are figures suggesting disharmony - an astronomer searching vainly for a planet beyond Saturn - the limit of his chart - (bottom right), a physician with his rod of Asclepius and a thermometer suggesting disease and fever (lower centre), a farmer kneeling next to a dead cow suggesting famine and at far left a figure of Death. The figure is climbing a tree on which are the shields of England (three lions) and the Prince of Wales (feathers). This engraving as published in 1751, the year in which the Prince of Wales - son of King George II of Great Britain - had died. At the top is a tableau depicting harmony in some heavenly sphere. Published in the Gentleman's Magazine.
