Forensic entomology. Container of insect samples removed from a corpse to be analysed in a forensic laboratory. Identification of insects found on a corpse can provide a range of information including how long the body was dead before it was found and whether it was moved after death. Different species of flies and other insects lay their eggs at different times, and their larvae feed on different tissues. By studying the insect population in a corpse, a very accurate time of death can be calculated.
