Scotland, Scottish Borders, near Stichill. Hume Castle, a rare example of a simple courtyard castle from the 13th century, the ruined curtain walls forming the basis of a folly built in 1794 for the last Earl of Marchmont. The castle is still seen as the spiritual home of the many Homes and Humes in Scotland and abroad.
