England, Northumberland, Flodden Field. Piper's Hill Monument on Branxton Ridge was erected in 1910 as a memorial to the last, most bloody battle fought in Northumberland. On 9th September 1513 the English, led by the Earl of Surrey, defeated the Scots led by their king, James IV, who was killed.
