Male Yuman desert fringe-toed lizard in breeding coloration on dune sand. Uma notata rufopunctata. Synonyms include Uma rufopunctata and Uma notata cowlesi. A sand dunes specialist equipped with a countersunk lower jaw, overlapping eye scales, nasal valves, protective skin flaps over the ear openings, and enlarged toe scales for digging in loose sand.
