Bombs and Bayonets to the Fore: a daybreak charge on the British front. The bombers, supported by bayonets, used bombs of the rocket shape on this occasion carried in panniers, or canvas bags. The piece of webbing attached caused the bombs to land head downwards and ensured explosion. The larger explosions on the left were caused by "hair-brush" bombs, so called from their shape.
