The Air-Liner of the Future, 1914. Idea for a transatlantic air liner which would fly at 10,000 but in an emergency could descend to sea level and skim the surface. It was expected that the flight between London and New York would take less than 24 hours. Illustration by C Dudley Tennant (active 1898-1918).
