Thomas Thomson (1773-1852) Scottish chemist, born at Creiff, Perthshire. A disciple of Joseph Black, he became professor of chemistry at Glasgow University in 1817. Published A System of Chemistry (1820). Engraving from A Biographical Dictionary of Eminent Scotsmen by the Rev. Thomas Thomson (Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, 1870).
