Oxaliplatin is used in combination with two other chemotherapy drugs, fluorouracil and folinic acid, to treat colorectal cancer. The combination is known as FOLFOX. It belongs to a family of drugs known as antineoplastics. These drugs control or kill malignant (cancerous) cells by interfering with their DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).
