Porcelain is a type of ceramic material (a non-metallic mineral created from powder and sintered at high temperatures) characterised by its hardness, translucence and shining finish. First developed in China, it is made of kaolin and petuntse, a fusible feldspar consisting chiefly of quartz which has been reduced to a fine, white powder.
