Lily flower. Macrophotograph of the reproductive parts of a lily flower (family Liliaceae). The pollen grains (the male sex cells of the plant) are borne on the orange anthers. An anther and its supporting filament are together known as a stamen. The female part of the flower is the green carpel (upper left). A pollen grain landing on its tip (stigma) is transported to the flower's ovaries, where fertilisation takes place.
