Facial reconstruction. Forensic scientist using a computer to reconstruct the features of a face. This technique may be used when a human skull is found that requires identification. The shape of the skull is scanned into the computer program, and layers of muscles can be added digitally to build up the face. The aim is to provide a likeness of the victim, which might allow them to be identified from missing persons records for example. An alternative method is to physically reconstruct the face with modelling clay.
