Benign tumour. Gross specimen of a myxoma, a benign (non-cancerous) tumour. This gelatinous tumour arises from connective tissue. It is most often found in the atria of the heart, where it can obstruct blood flow, but is also found in other parts of the body. The tumour is usually surgically removed to prevent it interfering with normal functions.
