MODEL RELEASED. Pinhole eye test. Patient looks through pinholes in an eye mask as part of an ophthalmic examination. An eyechart will be viewed and any improvement in eyesight noted compared to when the mask was not used. If eyesight improves then any visual problems are likely to be due to refractive errors in the eye. These faults in the focusing elements of the eye can be corrected with spectacles. If there is no improvement in eyesight using the pinhole then eye problems could be due to an underlying disease.
