Here, the uterus is displaced towards her back (retro- version) and is also bent backwards (retroflexion) as well. Although this condition may occur naturally (such as after childbirth), it can be a symptom of an underlying disorder, such as a tumour or pelvic inflammatory disease. If it occurs naturally, there are usually no symptoms. If caused by a disease, however, it may cause painful periods and intercourse, and even infertility.
