MODEL RELEASED. Ovarian cyst. Patient with a massively distended abdomen caused by a very large ovarian cyst. Cysts are abnormal liquid-filled sacs that form on the outer edges of the ovaries. An ovarian cyst is not usually malignant, but may reach a large size and place pressure on surrounding organs. Occasionally there may be abdominal pain, which is exacerbated during sexual intercourse. Surgical removal is required, especially if menstrual irregularities occur.
