Hysteroscopy is a procedure using a specially designed endoscope (known as a hysteroscope) to investigate the uterus. Here, the surgeon is looking at the uterus through the hysteroscope which has been pushed through the woman's vagina and cervix. An endoscope is a viewing device with optic fibres which can have surgical instruments attached to it. With a hysteroscope, abnormalities such as uterine tumours or cysts can be located and operated upon.
