Pancreas tissue. Light micrograph of a section through exocrine tissue from the pancreas. This tissue excretes digestive enzymes into the alimentary canal. Secretory cells are arranged in irregular clusters known as acini (dark blue/pink, left) around tiny ducts (narrow white channels). The enzymes produced by the cells drain into the duct network and are excreted into the duodenum, part of the small intestine. A large excretory duct (white/purple) is seen at right, separated from the acini by connective tissue (light blue). Magnification unknown.
