ISS Quest airlock being manipulated by the robotic arm (Canadarm2) of the International Space Station (ISS). The 6-metre-long, 6.5-tonne airlock was attached on 15 July 2001 to the ISS Unity module. The airlock will allow the crew to conduct space walks. Susan Helms, one of the 3-person Expedition 2 crew of the ISS, operated the robotic arm to lift the Quest airlock from the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. Atlantis flew this mission (STS-104) from 12-24 July 2001. The ISS is a joint effort between NASA, the European Space Agency, the Russian space agency, Canada, Japan and Brazil. It orbits at an altitude of 350 kilometres and is scheduled for completion in 2004.
