Wearable computing. Researcher Thad Starner wears the Private Eye display system in an everyday situation as he buys food. The black box over one half of his glasses can relay visual information using a liquid crystal display. Data is entered through a hand-held device which combines the functions of a keyboard and computer mouse. Voice and face-recognition software allow microphones and cameras attached to clothing to also feed data into the Private Eye. The lightweight computer and power supply are worn on his body. Such wearable computers" may soon be used in a variety of applications. Starner is a researcher at the Media Lab at MIT, USA."
