AI is the ability of machines to learn and act independently of their original programming. Computers process their calculations using on-off (binary) electronic switches. Animal brains use biologically-generated electric currents that are transmitted through nervous tissue. The brain and its neurons (nerves) and synapses (connections) process impulses from the rest of the body and initiate responses. The human brain is capable of functions such as memory, intelligent thought and language.
