Olympic stadium. Olympic Park Stadium in Munich, Germany. The stadium has a pioneering roof design, comprising a tensioned steel net covered with translucent acrylic panels. The tent-like roof covers an area of about 70,000 square metres. The stadium was built during 1968-72 for the Munich Olympic Games of 1972. It was designed by German architects Gunter Behnisch and Jurgen Joedicke with engineer Frei Otto as a consultant for the design of the roof.
