Geminid meteor (long, almost vertical bright streak), photographed on December 14, 1980, from California. The Geminids are night-time showers of meteors which occur between December 7 & 15 each year, reaching a maximum (58 per hour on average) on December 14. The short diagonal streaks in the long-exposure photograph are star trails. An amateur telescope can be seen, dimly lit, in the foreground. 24mm, f/2.8, Fuji 400 + 1 stop.
