Millennium Bridge and St Paul's. This suspension bridge crosses the River Thames in London, UK. It is a pedestrian bridge, allowing people to walk from the Tate Modern art gallery on the south bank, to St Paul's Cathedral (centre left). The bridge is 325 metres long. It was designed by the architects Norman Foster Associates, along with sculptor Anthony Caro, and constructed by engineers Ove Arup and Partners. It was opened on 10th June 2000, but was closed when excessive numbers of people caused the bridge to sway from side to side. Dampers were fitted to fix this, and the bridge reopened on 22nd February 2002.
