A terracotta horse mounted figure excavated from a tumulus in the Djenne/Mopti area, The rider wears an ornate necklace and the horse has a rich caparison on its nose. Although little is known about the use of these figures more recently the horse and rider has been a symbol of wealth throughout West Africa. Mali.
