At bottom, a peasant farmer and his wife are using mallets to break up clods of earth in a field to aid crop growth. The Luttrell Psalter is an illuminated manuscript that was produced in East Anglia, England, and dates from around the period 1325-1335. The text is in Latin, while the marginal illustrations show saints, Bible stories and everyday rural life.
