Borsig's factory at Oranienburg. 19th-century artwork of the iron foundry and locomotive factory established by German industrialist August Borsig (1804-1854) at Oranienburg Gate (Oranienburger Tor), Berlin, Germany. Borsig founded his train locomotive manufacturing company here in 1837. By the 1840s, his company was expanding and his Moabit ironworks became operational in 1849, followed by a third factory in 1850, bringing the number of employees to 1800. Borsig gained great wealth from his factories, which produced hundreds of locomotives. This engraving dates from 1888.
